WaterWays Ontario
Client
The WaterWays Ontario mission is to be a one-stop source for Ontario boating information.
Case Study
Logo Design:
We started with a new look for WaterWays; they had a busy and tired logo drawn in the 90s that had been tweaked one too many times. We literally went back to the drawing board to sketch the waves that WaterWays Partner Tony Reynolds had been dreaming of. We used pencil crayons to get a sketchy, watery look, then scanned our hand-drawings. The waves are comprised of two hidden ‘w’s and have become a design element which we can apply across various media. We researched nautical colour schemes and decided upon the classic red, blue and white. The red text “Ontario” can be replaced as the WaterWays team expands its roster.
Website:
The WaterWays Ontario team had been busted by two other ‘developers’ that left them high and dry and stuck ashore with their project.
The WaterWays team has big dreams and has been pursuing them for a number of years, looking for the right solution to tap into the multi-million dollar per year boating industry.
Focus on Media has finally given the team a solution that works for both the end-user and the administration. Microsoft Maps, integrated with UMapper technologies lets the team self-administer boat, marina and service listings. Users can now zoom in on their boating vacation destination and quickly source the services they need in a pageless, rich media experience. And when on the road selling, the WaterWays team can easily input new information through this custom application.
The website also features a custom Flash video player, which pops open to full screen to feature advertiser and partner eye-candy.
